a huge thanks to Paul P for helping out this past weekend...hard work, isn't it. dump run, electrical, moving wood piles from here to there, and back again, removing old roof shingles...the list goes on.
we did however manage to have some fun too...went to Red Rocks to see Yonder Mountain String Band with friends, was a perfect weekend.

...a day in the life of evy

as typical for evy at a job site, she wants to be in the truck alll the time...sleeping. it is fine by us, we always know where she is.

...reuse

we were removing the old log siding from the exterior and the interior and decided it would be perfect for our new window and door trim. we are now in the process of taking the top layer off, prepping it for install.

...new facia

before we tackle the new roof, we installed new fascia boards stained with Envirolast no VOC wood stain, color butterscotch.
we have received the permit for adding the dormer to the east room upstairs...hopefully the hole will go in the roof Thursday. If it does, we will be ready to move fast to get the new roof on and windows installed...we expect the windows to be delivered this week too, we are replacing all off them.

...new collar ties

john hand hewn the new 4x6 collar ties to replace the existing...the previous were not doing much good, it is no wonder the roof was sagging and leaning. we fixed that too

...as we wait, we work outside

while we wait on the county to approve our improvements, we decided to do some work outside. with the help of guido...we set new railroad ties and john built new stone columns. we also had our friend dustin who is an excavator, help with re-grading the property to help move water away from the building....it really needed to be done. the culvert you see above was once exposed and an eye sore, we were able to cover the top of it (leaving the opening of course) with the dirt we moved. we've planted mountain grass seed and wild flower mix i hopes if it growing looking a bit nicer.

...april 2009

...as it was in april 2009 when we decided it was time to buy it, save it, transform it...

as it was in the begining...

our neighbors have lived in the little yellow house next to the building for 50 years plus. They brought by these photos from 1955...wow, before I-70 was even there.
