...art
our good friend karl from tucson made a sink for the bathroom on the main level...we have not seen it in person yet but it looks awesome!
...however
...it was bound to happen
john and I unloaded some work tools from his truck about 11 am on Saturday morning so we could go to pick up a load of wood for the upper board & bat...we returned at 130 only to discover someone had got into the buildingand stole a number of power tools including the pressure washer.
in broad daylight...likely thru the crawl space since the doors were locked which we always triple check the doors are locked...so maddening.
we since removed all other power tools,
locked up the ladders and cement mixer.
off to pick up a security camera system today...

...hot tub
oh, and thanks to our friends Brandon and Kristen for house sitting at a place with a hot tub...we were able to visit them Saturday night...oh wait, that was sunday night, to soak the sore muscles...much needed.
now we want a hot tub...project #429

...ahh
its 9:20 Monday night...finally sitting on the sofa, showered, Mexican dinner (out) , and a whole-lot-o labor this labor day weekend. i am too tired to post photos tonight, but we were roofers for the weekend...it was major progress, but not fun. i managed to lift 4x8 sheets of plywood (about 30 of them) up the roof to john...who needs a gym. and, john is impressed that i now run the worm saw like a pro.
we are glad it is a short "work" week...but does work ever end, not in this part of the woods. Glad to be spending a lot of time together though, it is a true test, and we are passing.
after about 3 hours of removing 4 layers of tar paper, 200 staples and about 500 nails...we have a clean surface...
the front porch...
this what we have left to do...the back roof of the east side.

...more progress
pulling staples, we have been doing this for days it seems. the other day i pulled up and john had his best friend on the roof with him, she was loving it.
Metal roof it is...after meeting with a roofer, we went back and forth on asphalt vs. standing seam metal. between the Canadians and the Coloradoans, we decided to stick with our first choice and not to compromise the look and feel of the building. the order goes in soon.
our current schedule:
September complete exterior
October complete interior
